The company was originally formed in 1996 as Freehand Enterprises LLC and made into a C Corporation in January 29, 2001. The original TigerLight® Non-Lethal Defense System flashlight was invented by Sergeant Randy Teig while working the gang unit for a large Northwest police department. Sgt. Teig is a highly decorated officer, awarded medals for valor and life saving. Both Randy and his partner’s lives were saved on the very first night on the street with the newly developed TigerLight® when a subject they stopped in a vehicle tried to shoot them from inside his vehicle but was surprised with a blast of pepper spray in the face. The TigerLight® proved its unique capability, instantly.
