Sapienza University of Rome, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, is one of the oldest universities in the world and a high performer among the largest universities in international rankings. Since its founding over 700 years ago, Sapienza has played an important role in Italian history and has been directly involved in key changes and developments in society, economics and politics. It has contributed to the development of Italian and European science and culture in all areas of knowledge. The main campus, designed by Marcello Piacentini, was opened in 1935. It is situated close to the city centre, and is the largest in Europe - a real city within a city where teaching activities are integrated with libraries, museums as well as comprehensive student services. Faculties and Departments also carry out their activities in decentralized locations in different parts of the city. There are two other university campuses elsewhere in Lazio. Sapienza offers a vast array of courses including degree programmes, PhD courses, one to two year professional courses and Specialization Schools in many disciplines, run by 63 Departments and 11 Faculties. With the 2011-2012 academic year, the University inaugurated the School for Advanced Studies and evaluates candidates on the basis of educational merit, that provides students with courses and activities aimed at encouraging and developing their capabilities through scientific, cultural and interdisciplinary enrichment. Sapienza enhances research by offering opportunities to academia on a global scale. Thanks to a special programme for visiting professors, many foreign researchers and lecturers periodically visit the University and contribute greatly to the quality of education and research programmes. Sapienza encourages international exchange: there are over 1,100 incoming and outgoing exchange students per year, thanks to several mobility programmes.

We are a community of professors, researchers and experts who deals with design cultures and their continuous innovation. We operate in the University of Bologna through teaching activities, Research and in the Third mission. The task of the Advanced Design Unit is to incentivize, increase and promote the synergies between design education and the productive and social context. Since its foundation in 2014, the Advanced Design Unit has maximized the activation of multi-level relationships between companies, organizations, institutions and courses in Design. The dissemination of design practices and specific tools allows businesses and local authorities to encounter advanced design research in order to anticipate future scenarios, new models and processes.

L’Università degli Studi di Milano è un ateneo a vocazione interdisciplinare e internazionale, che riesce a coniugare tradizione e innovazione per rispondere alle sfide di una società in forte cambiamento. Fondata nel 1924, a 100 dalla sua nascita, l’Università milanese si prepara a diventare, entro il 2026, un Ateneo multipolare che guarda al futuro della città di Milano con il nuovo Campus universitario per l’eccellenza scientifica a MIND - Milano Innovation District, nell’area che ha ospitato Expo 2015, e il Campus umanistico a Città Studi. Unico ateneo italiano tra i 23 membri fondatori della LERU, la League of European Research Universities, l’Università degli Studi di Milano fa parte di 4EU+ European University Alliance che riunisce otto atenei europei impegnati nella costruzione di un sistema universitario integrato. L’Università degli Studi di Milano ha al suo attivo 121 progetti vinti con il programma di ricerca europeo Horizon 2020, 69 attivati sul programma Horizon Europe (2021-2027), 54 progetti ERC vinti dal 2010 - di cui 24 in corso - e 13 progetti PNRR finanziati per oltre 111 milioni di euro. La ricerca di base e applicata si svolge in 31 dipartimenti e 63 centri di ricerca coordinata, supportata dal sistema bibliotecario di ateneo che mette a disposizione una ricca collezione cartacea e digitale. Con una popolazione studentesca di oltre 60 mila iscritti, di cui quattro mila internazionali, una comunità di personale docente e non docente di quasi cinque mila persone, l’Ateneo milanese offre 155 corsi di laurea (di cui 32 erogati in lingua inglese), 36 corsi di dottorato, 67 scuole di specializzazione, 31 master e 91 corsi di perfezionamento.
