Tidey.co Information

Tidey.co is a design and research organisation that uses design, technology and data to connect people to blue spaces. A feeling of connectedness to the ocean is an important step towards a kinship that can inspire awareness of and desire to conserve these environments. Our mission is to initiate a cycle of care and connection between the human and more-than-human to inspire change. Our first product “Tidey Tide Clock”, is an Internet of Things device that connects to the cloud to present a visualisation of the position and movements of the ocean's tides using a matrix of LED lights. Anecdotal feedback from users points to it helping them feel connected to the sea even when it is hundreds or thousands of miles away. Studies in partnership with the University of Plymouth are underway to see how this connection helps nurture a feeling of connection. We are actively developing and collaborating across academia, the third sector and industry to see how regenerative design approaches and digital technologies can positively impact nature and communities.
