Founded in 1993 as part of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program, Thunderbird is a 22-week tuition-free quasi-military program for struggling Oklahoma students. Using the structure and discipline of the military, students attend classes, catch up on high school credits, learn job skills, and develop leadership and life coping abilities. The goal of Thunderbird Challenge Program is to provide cadets with the training, skills, and foundations for success. For Oklahoma youth, Thunderbird offers a new beginning, opportunity for change, and a place to determine your own future.
