In 2004, Mike and Janet Johnston decided to combine their individual skills as avid home cooks and bakers with their experiences in marketing and the retail spice industry to open the very first Savory Spice location in Denver, Colorado. After the immediate success of the shop, they decided to take their concept a step further and created a Savory Spice website.
Building on the positive response to the Denver store and a direct-to-consumer option, they opened a second shop in Littleton, Colorado, followed by shops in Boulder and East Denver two years later. Now, Savory Spice and its franchisors operate nearly 30 locations across the United States.
Mustard and Co. took shape in 2013 on the basis that food is best enjoyed in the company of bold condiments. The condiment world will never be the same. At Mustard and Co., we emphasizes quality local ingredients, and traditional techniques that preserve the mustard seed’s inherent, horseradish-like spiciness. This guarantees that you get raw, organic, real mustard flavor with each taste, keeping your food in good company. Eat boldly.
Bill Wharton (Sauce Boss) has cooked gumbo on stage for over 165,000 for free. He mixes his own spicy original music--Florida Slide Guitar Blues--and adds his famous Liquid Summer hot sauce right into every night's cooking demonstration of his own gumbo recipe. It's a multi-sensory soul shouting picnic of rock and roll brotherhood. And at the end of the night, everybody eats.
