We are a well-established firm that has provided a wide range of legal services for over 150 years. The firm of W Evans George & Sons was founded in 1864 by William Evans George and he was joined in practise by his sons John Edward Morgan George and David Thomas George. William died in 1904 and David Thomas George died in 1927. Geoffrey Edward Evans George, the son of John Edward Morgan George, was articled to his father and qualified as a solicitor in the early 1930s. In 1934, Geoffrey purchased the firm of George Davies & Evans of Cardigan and went into partnership with Huw Lewis Evans and the two firms continued as separate entities until the death of John Edward Morgan George in 1959. In 1962, Jeremy Evans George, the son of Geoffrey Edward Evans George, joined the practice as the fourth generation of Georges to practice law at Newcastle Emlyn. The practice of George Davies & Evans of Cardigan was founded by William Griffith George of Rhydgarwen, Bridell. His son, John Picton Meredith George continued the practice under the name of George & Sons until his death in 1934. Some time prior to his death the firm was acquired by his son-in-law Mr E B Evans and Geoffrey George acquired the firm from either Mr E B Evans or his personal representatives. William Griffith George of Rhydgarnwen was from another branch of the George family and so in 1934 the two firms were united under the proprietorship of Geoffrey George who died in 1990 but continued until very recently to practice under their respective titles of W Evans George & Sons and George Davies & Evans. Both firms are now styled George Davies & Evans. The George family have practiced law in this corner of Wales for over 150 years and until his recent retirement Jeremy Evans George was the last of that name to be in practice being the great grandson of William Evans George who started in Newcastle Emlyn in 1864.
