Thermold products: then and now. Thermold Design and Development got it's start in the 1960’s as a injection molded plastic component manufacturer that served the automotive industry. Thermold founder, William Howard, was known as an innovative thinker who held many patents. In addition, Mr. Howard was an avid shooter and big game hunter for whom making firearms technology more reliable was both a passion and a necessity. Mr. Howard selected a durable nylon resin called Zytel, developed by DuPont after World War II to replace metal in large-scale manufacturing for producing his patented designs. Thermold began producing modern weapons magazines that resisted heat, corrosion and reliably functioned under extreme condition. Thermold magazines rapidly became the product of choice among military, law enforcement, recreational and sport shooters around the world. Today, all Thermold products are proudly made and assembled in the United States. The Thermold manufacturing facility is located in Wilson, North Carolina.
