Therapeutic Horsemanship (TH) has provided award-winning equestrian therapy programs for people with disabilities in St. Louis, St. Charles, Lincoln County and surrounding areas since 1975. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, TH is located in St. Charles County and is nationally accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). More than two-thirds of TH operating revenue comes from contributions, gifts, grants and sponsored events. Ranked as one of the top therapeutic riding programs in the country, TH offers many therapeutic regimens to riders living with disabilities that range from Autism and Cerebral Palsy to Muscular Dystrophy, MS, Downs Syndrome, ADHD and many others. TH programs also offer alternative physical therapy options to those with spinal, brain and motor disorders and injuries. On an average, 84% of TH clients are under the age of 18; all clients have some type of disability. Many individuals with physical disabilities do not have access to participation in recreational physical activities. Horseback riding provides these individuals with this opportunity in a safe, therapeutic environment.
