We've been involved with post production in NYC since the 1970's creating thousands of award winning commercials for leading agencies.. Today, we are located in Fort Lauderdale FL minus the tape decks, or so we thought.. It was during covid that people were reaching out to us ,"Do you still have those VTR's? I found a few tapes I need captured." Being locked down in our homes, people were finding broadcast tapes everywhere - closets, attics, garages, basements - with no easy or inexpensive way to view them, let alone capture them. We still had 2 decks in the back of the office that had not been used in 8-10 years; a digital beta and a betaSP. Turning them on, the decks still worked yet we had no way to capture the video. After some research we purchased a digitizing device, captured a few tapes for our friends then the addiction to find VTR started. Over the next month when the country was on the hard lockdown and no where to go we acquired a few VTR's. It gave is purpose and somewhere to go, to clean, rack up, run cables and connect the VTR's as an activity and something to do. Fast forward to today, we have 10+ racks of equipment with formats that include 1", 3/4", D1 (NTSC/PAL), D2 (NTSC/PAL), D3, D5 (SD/HD), D9, Digital Beta (NTSC/PAL), Beta SX/SP (NTSC/PAL), HDCAM/SR, S/VHS, DVCAM, HDV, DVCPRO (HD/50), miniDV Posting the 'toys' on Facebook various groups more interest was generated than expected and people with tapes to capture began reaching out. We came to find that some were afraid to send tapes to a stranger or thought it may be cost prohibitive. With clean hands in the industry since the 80's, having knowledge of how to setup and use the equipment (not just put a tape in and capture) it put us on a mission to help preserve history as the first thought with concerns of finances and budget taken into consideration second.
