The Tata Power Company Limited - Strategic Engineering Division (Tata Power SED) Information

For close to four decades, Tata Power SED has been a leading private-sector player in the indigenous Design, Development, Production, Integration, Supply and Life-cycle Support of mission-critical Defence Systems of strategic importance. During this period, the Division has partnered the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Armed Forces, DPSUs and DRDO in the development & supply of state-of-the-art Systems and emerged as a Prime Contractor to MoD for Indigenous Defence Production when it secured Orders for Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher and Akash Launchers for the Army and Air Force, COTS-based Automatic Data Handling System for Air Defence and Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) for the Indian Air Force. The Division has an enterprise-wide established Process & Quality System and has the ability to understand Defence requirements and design & manufacture to MIL Grade with the requisite system reliability, documentation and long-term Lifecycle support. Our infrastructure includes an Integrated Design-to–Production facility, Advanced Environmental / EMI / EMC / EMP Testing capability, Precision Engineering Tool Rooms, Large System Integration Bays and Staging Facilities. Through its expertise in Technology Management and the effective utilisation of its wide range of competencies, Tata Power SED is well on the path of nurturing substantive self-reliance for Indian Defence through the Development, Manufacture, Integration, Supply and Long-term maintenance of systems in niche areas such as Command and Control, Electronic Warfare, Tactical Communications, Weapon Delivery, Artillery & Armour, Air Defence and Servo Control & Drive Electronics for platform positioning and tracking.
