The String Project is a full service string shop supplying instruments, bows, cases, accessories, and sheet music for all players from beginner to professional. Our services in our retail location include repair of both instruments and bows as well as lessons. The String Project was founded in 1988 by Karen Summerville, a violin and viola teacher who found it difficult to find quality instruments and accessories for her students. Since then The String Project has earned a reputation for our expertise and honesty. Customers from all over the Chicago area and beyond have placed their trust in our reputation.
