The STEPS Initiative Information

The STEPS Initiative is an award winning charitable organization that builds the capacity of citizens to take action in creating more vibrant and connected communities, by developing large scale one- of- a- kind public artworks, installations, and mural projects. Essentially, we strive to use art to connect people with public spaces by: - Leading large-scale community art & public space revitalizations; - Building youth capacity in both community and school settings; - Creating opportunities for local artists to exhibit in the public realm; - Articulating creative solutions to urban challenges with diverse voices; - Supporting emerging community initiatives, the leaders behind them and the spaces needed for them to flourish! In addition to our large-scale public art projects, temporary space activations and capacity building programs, we operate an award-winning social enterprise called The PATCH Project. It is a public arts agency that improves the urban experience for local residents and visitors alike, by collaborating with a curated roster of artists to transform construction hoardings into ongoing exhibitions.
