The Shark Fund's Mission is to Give Our Kids the Edge, Now and for the Rest of their Lives. The Shark Fund works closely with students, teachers, and parents to provide our kids the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. What We Fund:All monies raised are spent to ensure Malibu High School's educational excellence. Funds are used in programs, curriculum and staffing for MHS grades 6-12. The Needs Assessment Committee, comprised of The Shark Fund Needs Assessment Chair, Presidents of the PTSA, Athletic Booster Club, and the Arts Angels, together with the Malibu High School principal, meet monthly to develop a prioritized list of needs to target with donated funds. We are The Shark Fund, we are your neighbors, friends, and families. We are the umbrella fundraising arm of Malibu Middle and High School. The Shark Fund provides funds for education, arts, music, athletics, and special programming. The idea was simple; build one highly effective fundraising organization to meet all the academic, athletic, and arts needs of the school. The Shark Fund pools our funds to support programs, events, and educational materials not currently supported by the school district or the state. Formed in 2003 by a concerned group of parents, The Shark Fund is committed to the purpose of raising critical financial support to ensure the highest level of educational programs and resources in our schools. Today, The Shark Fund is a successful non-profit 501(c)(3) fundraising organization, providing financial support directly to Malibu Middle and High School. Specific programs which we support include: the PTSA, the Athletic Booster Club, Arts Angels, library aides, Student Counseling Services, special education, the latest technology for the classroom, as well as student enrichment programs in math and science. Every fall, The Shark Fund launches a direct donation campaign that encourages each family to donate funds in support of our children's education. We encourage a donation of $2,000 per student. Other fundraising efforts include special events, matching grants, major donor outreach, specialized campaigns, and the Jr. Shark Fund. Recent capital projects have included field lights (for soccer, football, and other sports), new bleachers, science lab equipment, musical accompanists, grants for student publications, and more. Whatever the request, The Shark Fund's goal is to ensure that our students have what they need to get the best education possible.
