Compass Health
[For open positions, please visit: www.compasshealth.org/careers] Compass Health’s mission is to champion the quest for well-being throughout our communities, and advance behavioral health in Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan, and Whatcom counties. Compass Health was first established as Parkland Lutheran Children’s Home in 1901, caring for orphaned children in Western Washington. In 1953, we hired our first psychiatrist and began providing mental health care for the children who lived at our home. In 1963, Congress passed the Community Mental Health Act, creating community-based service models and allowing for the deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill. As a result, a variety of organizations were established in the northwest that ultimately became part of Compass Health, ensuring a full array of services for adults, children, and families, in the five counties we serve. In 2014, Compass Health merged with Whatcom Counseling and Psychiatric Clinic, expanding our service area to include Whatcom County. Today we serve over 18,000 people per year in our behavioral health programs. For more than 110 years, Compass Health has been providing innovative mental health services to children and adults from all walks of life suffering from mental illness. Our programs have grown and changed to reflect the needs of the community, and this flexibility has led to us becoming the largest and one of the most well respected mental health agencies in Western Washington. We provide services to individuals in Island, San Juan, Skagit, and Snohomish Counties. Most individuals who receive our services are on Medicaid, and many are homeless. Clients and/or their families typically have incomes below 50% of area median income, with many below 30%. Living Innovations
For 23 years Living Innovations has partnered with thousands of families in New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead good lives at home and in their communities with innovative programming and services. On February 1, 2021, Living Innovations became a service of Mosaic, and is considered a 501(c)(3) organization. Mosaic CEO Linda Timmons said the two organizations have a similar vision for service, strong values and a common mission, so joining together brought new strength to the Mosaic network and new resources to Living Innovations. Mosaic offers a wide range of supports, including services mirroring those of Living Innovations. For some of our individuals, we have helped them find opportunities for Shared Living, which is based on carefully matching a person in need of support with a host family in a natural home, as opposed to a shift-staffed or institutional environment. Why is that important? One of our core values is: Putting people first. And we believe everyone should have an equal opportunity to experience all that life has to offer. For others, we have reinforced and provided opportunities to help them participate in educational, social and employment opportunities. In our Community Support Program, all activities are geared to meet the specific needs, desires and interests of the participants. The goal is to enhance their health, safety and independent living skills.
