St Stephen’s School is a progressive, independent school of the Uniting Church in Western Australia, offering a Christ-centred, student-focused and community-based education for students from Pre-Kindy to Year 12. Spread over two campuses in Perth’s northern suburbs, St Stephen’s School was established in 1984 in Duncraig, which now consists of two campuses on adjacent sides of Hepburn Avenue. One is the original Duncraig Campus, catering for Years 3 to 12, while the Early Learning Centre at Hepburn Heights, Padbury, was added in 2011, offering Pre-Kindy to Year 2. The leafy Carramar Campus services the upper northern suburbs of Perth with Pre-Kindy to Year 12. Reflecting our Christian foundations, St Andrew's Cathedral School is a strong and hopeful learning community that nurtures the individual strengths of each student in our care. We have extensive sporting and co-curricular opportunities. We also have an outstanding outdoor education programme based at our property, Kirrikee, in the NSW Southern Highlands. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, our Middle School students are taught the NSW school curriculum through the IB Middle Years framework. This framework encourages: global mindedness, higher order thinking, and builds interdisciplinary connections. IB approaches to learning skills (ATL) are taught explicitly in this framework, enabling students in the middle years to ‘learn how to learn’ and providing a common language on the process of learning for teachers and their students. With purposefully designed, light-filled learning spaces for Junior School, Middle School and a dedicated pre-tertiary environment for Senior College, we’re fully coeducational from Kindergarten to Year 12. Senior College students can choose to study either the HSC or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Our school within a school, Gawura, is a highly regarded model, noted for its innovative approach to a First Nations-led education within a mainstream system and was named 2020 Australian School of the Year. Our teachers are experts in their chosen fields who very much enjoy the relational nature of teaching and who engage in the character development of each child, both within and outside the classroom. They are also passionate about developing their practice and benefit from a progressive professional learning programme. Many of our teachers are invited to present at state and national educational conferences and professional associations, and as an educational leader, we hold conferences, host international experts and encourage thought leadership.
