The River Fund Inc Information

Locally, The River Fund provides The River House, a home that cares for people with terminal illness, especially AIDS; and supports Mary's House, a home for babies with AIDS. In collaboration with Kashi Ashram, spiritual retreats and workshops help people cope with the effects of HIV/AIDS, and a Memorial Boardwalk offers a peaceful sanctuary on the river's edge to remember those who have died. In Florida, The River Fund is a leader in AIDS education. According to the Florida Dept. of Health, Florida is currently number one in the nation for heterosexual AIDS cases, number two for pediatric cases, and number three in the nation for overall AIDS cases. As of March, there were over 55,000 cases of AIDS in Florida. The River Fund provides AIDS prevention education through displays of the AIDS Quilt and performances of an original AIDS play produced in collaboration with students at the Ma Jaya River School. AIDS prevention education is provided to schools throughout Florida. Last year, programs were held in over 75 schools in 20 counties, 20 churches, 30 civic organizations, 7 prisons and numerous conferences and events. Nationally, The River Fund has satellite programs in Atlanta, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles.
