The Personal Support Unit Information

No one wants to lose their home, be made bankrupt or lose the right to see their children. You don’t imagine these things will happen to you. If you found yourself in court, you would not imagine to be there alone. If you are unable to afford a lawyer there is very little legal support available and you would have to represent yourself through a complex court proceeding at a very emotional time. The PSU offers practical and emotional support to people who are representing themselves in civil and family court proceedings. We have over 500 trained and experienced volunteers who give free, independent assistance to 3,300 clients a month. We operate from 12 court centres in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.
