This year, The Performance Theatre - as a Norwegian foundation - makes a proud return to its roots: Oslo. The June 13-14 theatre will bring some 170 participants to the city, including CEOs from the highest echelons of business, the transformative leaders shaking things up and the globe's 'big thinkers', as we debate the role of leadership in realising a new kind of growth. The theme for this year's theatre is 'Leadership with a human purpose'. From dwindling resources and a volatile climate to persistent inequality and societal upheaval, the signs are clear: we need a new way of growing that creates value for greater numbers of people - without degrading the planet or sacrificing the well-being of future generations. This is the defining challenge of our time. Meeting this challenge calls for a new breed of leader who is driven not merely by electoral cycles or short-term profit but by a desire to contribute to the betterment of humanity. It's no longer enough to treat business as somehow separate from society or to think we can leave our humanity at home. We need leadership with a human purpose. Our ambition for this year's Performance Theatre, in Oslo, Norway, is to build insight into leadership with a human purpose. What does it mean in practice? What are the benefits? What are the trade-offs? How can it be taught and learned? As we explore these questions, we will shine a light on leaders who are already travelling down this path, and try to inspire the next generation to follow and, hopefully, outrun them. This year's programme will feature three plenary sessions structured around what we believe are hallmarks of the leadership we need: the ability to challenge assumptions, the ability to see across systems and the ability to build trust.
