The Orphan Support League was founded in July 2007 by Briony Bax in Piedmont, California, to aid parentless or displaced children around the world. It was set up as a sister organization to the Mji Wa Neema Charity in the UK that supports the Saidia Children's Home in Gilgil Kenya. The UK Charity is run by Kenyan born Anne Mitchell, who is Briony's aunt. The League focuses on raising funds for the Saidia Children's Home and its outreach programs in Gilgil such as the Bondeni Project which provides pre-school and food for approximately 75 children each day who live in the red-light district of the town. The Orphan Support League is a charity that has NO administrative, fundraising, or advertising costs. All the people who choose to work for the League do so on a voluntary basis. The Bax Family pays for all expenses involved with running the League. The League's role is to act as a responsible gatekeeper ensuring that 100% of the funds are spent wisely on projects that they have a close involvement with and that are visited regularly.
