The Odyssey Language Assistant Program places enthusiastic participants in public schools across Canada, where they aid students in their acquisition of either French or English language skills. Through games and activities done with Odyssey participants, students learn about nuances of the language, like slang or idiomatic expressions, and practice their listening and speaking skills with a person whose dominant language is the one they are trying to learn. Benefits to the Language Assistants include hundreds of hours of in-class work with youth; a chance to develop their teaching skills; the opportunity to develop language skills through immersion; a chance to travel Canada; and the opportunity to get paid to do so!
