Nottingham High School is an independent day school situated about a mile north of Nottingham city centre, with over a thousand pupils from ages 4 to 18. We are made up of a Senior School and Sixth Form, the adjoining Nottingham High Junior School and Lovell House Infant School.
Founded in 1513, the school has a rich heritage with a proud and passionate community of alumni spread around the world. We are a co-educational school and have been welcoming girls into all year groups since September 2015.
At Nottingham High School we have a well-deserved national reputation both for our academic success and for the high standards achieved in the wide range of activities we offer. We were named the Sunday Times East Midlands Independent Secondary School of the Year in 2019, and are listed in The Telegraph's "Ten of the best value private schools in the UK" list in January 2020.
For almost half a millennium, Lord Williams’s School students have been making a difference in the world. We are proud to be an inclusive school serving all the young people in our community.
We aim for excellence in all that we and our students do as they discover their passions, achieve their potential and fulfil their ambitions in academic, vocational, artistic and sporting pursuits.
Our commitment is to:
Provide a rich, diverse and challenging education through
excellent teaching and learning
Develop lively and enquiring minds, healthy lifestyles
and free spirits
Generate confidence, purpose, and self-esteem leading
to outstanding achievement
Build a warm and welcoming environment in which respect
and care for others are as important as the nurturing
of individual potential
Increase the opportunities to bring together students, parents, carers, staff and community as partners in learning
Sic itur ad astra........ a tous venaunts
(“Thus the way to the stars…….. for all comers”)
