The Michigan Catholic is the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Detroit, and shares in the mission of the Archdiocese to "share Christ in and through the Church." Founded in 1872 as the “Western Home Journal,” The Michigan Catholic is the second-oldest newspaper in the state of Michigan and covers Catholic news and events of interest to the 1.3 million Catholics in southeast Michigan, covering Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, St. Clair, Lapeer and Monroe counties — along with national, international and Vatican news. In addition to news coverage, The Michigan Catholic also seeks to inform and inspire, offering faith-building resources to help readers better know Jesus Christ and to better serve God and neighbor.
