The LCB Information

The LCB (aka Laslo Congressional Bureau) is a regionally-focused national wire service. Since 2006, LCB Founder Matt Laslo has covered Washington for 60+ individual NPR member stations, including being the congressional correspondent for WAMU 88.5 (DC), Capital Public Radio (Sacramento), Colorado Public Radio, Kentucky Public Radio, KERA (Dallas), NHPR, WSKG (Binghamton, NY), WLRN (Miami), National Native News, Vermont Public Radio, Northwest News Network, Virginia Public Radio, WPLN (Nashville), Wyoming Public Radio, WSHU (Conn. & Long Island), etc. The LCB has provided tailored Washington coverage for five Pulitzer Prize-winning outlets, including Mississippi Today, This American Life and Willamette Weekly. LCB coverage was central to three features Raw Story submitted for its 2023 EPPY Award and 2024 Folio Award. The LCB regularly breaks cannabis news for award-winning client Marijuana Moment. It’s also provided exclusive tailored packages for its “competitors” (Silicon Valley is every newsroom's main competitor — Prof. Laslo) including Outlaw Report, MJ BizDaily, WikiLeaf and Rolling Stone. Not to mention all the regional outlets the wire service has covered marijuana reform for, like Virginia Public Radio, WHYY and Colorado Public Radio. Playing it forward: The LCB has trained 50+ interns. Alumni have gone on to: NPR, Washington Post, WCVE, Marketplace, CBS, New York Post, WAMU, Sunlight Foundation, WSKG, McClatchy, CNN, Reuters, Fox News, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, etc. The LCB abroad: We’ve sponsored a Canadian journalist’s green card, Russian journalist’s asylum claim, work visa for a Pakistani journalists, two Ukraine war correspondents, etc. The LCB was founded by veteran congressional correspondent and Johns Hopkins University Lecturer Matt Laslo. Since 2009, Matt’s served on the board of the Regional Reporters Association, where he helps represent the dwindling numbers of local reporters based in Washington.
