Do you want independent press regulation with teeth? So do we. That’s why we launched The IMPRESS Project. We love the press. We’re always checking newspapers, websites and social media to find out what’s happening in the world and to have our say about it. We believe in the freedom of the press to tell us what’s really going on in our society. But we don’t believe in journalism which ruins people’s lives just to sell newspapers. That’s not press freedom. It’s bullying. We are developing plans for press regulation which is independent of politicians and press owners, affordable for small publishers and websites, and accountable to the public. We don’t want politicians telling journalists what to print. We just want to be able to trust what we read in the news. We need independent press regulation to give us – the public – the quality of journalism we deserve.
