The Icelandic Centre for Social Research and Analysis, ICSRA, is a youth research centre that has specialized in youth research since 1999. We aim to analyze the social well being of youth and focus on determinants of various health related lifestyles and changes therein over time and on international comparison. Our main research groups are school students 10 to 20 years of age. ICSRA is located inside the School of Public Health and Teaching at the Reykjavík University (http://www.ru.is/) and works closely with various divisions of the school. The Centre collects both qualitative and quantitative data on a yearly basis from various fields in the country and is specialised in research amongst adolescents and evaluation of school work. The Centre is leading the Youth in Europe research that is currently being conducted in cities all over Europe, see http://www.youthineurope.org/. The ESPAD ( The European School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs) surveys in 1995, 1999 and 2003 were performed by ICSRA. Also the Centre functions as a national correspondent for the European Knowledge Centre on Youth Policy (EKCYP), as well as a national youth research coordinating the frame of the European Youth Research Network. The Centre works closely with various governmental and non-governmental organisations to provide funding and logistic support for research.
