The Highfield School Competitors

St Edward's, Oxford, is a co-educational boarding and day school for 13-18 years, situated in north Oxford, and affectionately known as Teddies. Underlying everything at Teddies is our mission to prepare our pupils for the rest of their lives by encouraging their passions and talents, enabling them to discover new ones and supporting them to achieve their own potential. Our community thrives on diverse interests and enthusiasms, while our academic excellence means 90% of our top pupils gain the highest grades in their Sixth Form exams and take up places at the world’s best universities.

Highgate is one of the UK’s leading co-educational independent schools. Founded 460 years ago, we welcome pupils, aged 4 to 18, from a range of backgrounds across London and beyond. Highgate offers high-calibre, academically-minded teaching with a focus on scholarship and independence for all, rather than on exam outcomes. Our varied co-curricular activities, and our wide-reaching programme of community service, help our pupils develop interests and hobbies, forge lasting friendships, belong to teams, ensembles and casts, and learn the value of community. We believe in making the most of childhood and adolescence; we want our young people to leave us intellectually and emotionally prepared for higher study and for work, and for playing a transformative role in their communities. Highgate consists of a Pre-Prep, Junior, Senior and Sixth Form and is a lead sponsor of partner Sixth Form, the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham. Pupils are admitted at 4+, 7+, 11+ and 16+ from a diverse range of state and independent schools across London and further afield. We offer means-tested bursaries at 7+, 11+ and 16+ for eligible families who are looking for fee assisted places. Our awards include: Sunday Times Guide 2025 - Top 10 Independent School for Academic Excellence London. Sunday Times Guide 2025 - Top 20 Independent School for Academic Excellence UK. Sunday Times Guide 2021 - London Independent Secondary School of the Decade.
