Based at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges about 32 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, the discount and clearance superstore boasts more than 30 departments packed with a wide range of art and craft supplies, partyware, homeware, pet accessories, seasonal decorations, novelty products, fashion and beauty, footwear, books, CDs and DVDs, confectionery and hundreds of new stock arriving every week. Founded in 1992, The Famous Arthur Daley's opened in Melbourne CBD, moving to pop-up locations on Swanston Street before finding a home in the Basement, 33-35 Swanston Street, Melbourne (1999-2015) and opening outlets in 131 Moorabool Street, Geelong (2007-2012) and 1136 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully (2012). In 2015, The Famous Arthur Daley's consolidated its business base to its current location in 1136 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully and launched 'Arthur Daley’s Online' to meet its customers’ growing online needs. In the same year, it sold its city outlet to private buyers, ending a 23-year history in Melbourne CBD.
