Denver Film's mission is to develop opportunities for diverse audiences to discover film through creative, thought-provoking experiences. The cinema's potential to transform as well as reflect society in all its diversity is what the Denver Film aims to recognize and realize. Since 1978, DFS has worked to promote the medium as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events.
Denver Film's permanent home, the Sie FilmCenter, opened in November 2010 and has helped expand our original programming and community partnerships. In addition to screening more than 600 titles annually, Denver Film hosts an array of programs and events to connect and educate filmgoers-including Film on the Rocks, the Denver Film Festival, the Young Filmmaker Workshop, mini-festivals such as Cinema Q and J'adore: Focus on French Cinema, and partnership programming throughout the year.
Cevantes’ History
Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom is located at 2637 Welton Street in the old Casino Cabaret whose history dates back to the Cotton Club days of the 1930s when jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Benny Goodman took the stage when they toured through Denver. Over the years the Casino Cabaret has hosted such acts as James Brown, BB King, Ray Charles, Ike & Tina Turner, and countless others. Cervantes’ has continued the musical legacy of the building and neighborhood ever since the grand opening in January 2003. Cervantes’ and The Other Side have played host to thousands of live shows including intimate performances with Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), Derek Trucks, Dr. John, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Nas, Big Boi, STS9, Sam Bush, Page McConnell of Phish, Branford Marsalis, and Warren Haynes to name a few.
Cervantes’ Information
Cervantes’ has two rooms that offer live music simultaneously, Cervantes’ and The Other Side. Each room operates independently of the other but they are connected giving our patrons the ability to venture back and forth between each room. Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom separates itself from other Denver live music venues for a multitude of reasons, but the dual venue feature makes Cervantes’ stand out the most.
Cervantes’ holds 900 people and includes a balcony that wraps around the entire room creating a very intimate setting. Cervantes’ incorporates a top of the line sound system, including a Meyer MICALine Array with four boxes per side and six Meyer 650P subs. This arrangement translates into full sound that can be heard throughout the venue from front to back. The Other Side holds 500 people and has equally impressive traits.
Box Office Hours
The Box Office is open on show nights at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom after 7 pm.
Tickets can almost always be purchased though through the Cervantes’ Main Office (2635 Welton St.). The hours of operation for the Cervantes’ Main Office is Monday – Friday 7 am –
