THE COLOMBO PLAN is one of the world's oldest intergovernmental organisations dedicated to development cooperation. Established on 1 July 1951 and headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, it was founded on the principles of self-help and mutual help to promote economic and social development among its member countries. Over 75 years, the Colombo Plan has evolved from supporting infrastructure and technical assistance projects to delivering specialised programmes in drug demand and supply reduction, capacity building, and climate and environmental action. Through our unique partnership model, we continue to foster regional cooperation and sustainable development — helping partner countries strengthen skills, institutions, and resilience for a rapidly changing world.
