The Clothes Horse has been manufacturing custom made horse blankets, tackroom drapes, and trunk covers since 1972. Growing out of one man's desire for the perfect rain sheet and company founder Edith Friedman's willingness to try something new, The Clothes Horse now makes items for some of the most prestigious show barns and horse shows in the country, as well as for private horse owners nationwide. Edith started making blankets in her basement alone - but when the business grew each year she had to move out to another facility, add a staff of employees, and the company just keeps on growing. With almost no advertising - relying solely on the reputation of an excellent product and word of mouth - The Clothes Horse has grown to be the manufacturer of the most elegant and well-crafted fabric horse products of the kind that are available. After taking tender loving care of her company for almost 30 years, Edith retired in 2001, and now the company is run by her longtime assistant, Katrina Coldren. Every single order is taken and entered into the computer as a custom order. All details are spelled out according to the customer's specific requests and needs. Then each order is cut, in chronological order, one piece at a time by hand. Next each item is sewn on a single needle machine. This allows us to use high-end finishing methods such as mitered corners on our sheets and blankets that are not possible on the production binding machines used by most blanket makers. The fine tailoring includes a small stitch which makes a more durable item. Other details such as fine leather buckles on dress sheets, real leather reinforcement of stress points on horse clothes and trunk covers, nylon thread reinforcement on tackroom drapes, and double layer construction of name banners and chair backs are simply not found elsewhere. This attention to quality and detail adds time to manufacturing, but the product is worth it. Some satisfied customers include: Beacon Hill, Heritage Farm, Chris Kappler Inc., Brookway Stables, The National Horse Show, The Devon Horse Show, and the Winter Equestrian Festival among many, many others. We are located in Cinnaminson, New Jersey, which is just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, and we welcome customers who want to visit. We offer a level of customer service that is unmatched in the horse blanket industry, and if you are too far away to visit, we will send as many samples as are required to help you decide on the perfect item. Katrina is a horsewoman herself and travels to many horse shows and other equine events throughout the year. We are happy to make arrangements to meet you at these shows and measure your horse or trunks or sit down with samples and discuss your needs. We are also willing to travel to nearby barns. We take equal interest in talking to a horse owner about her one horse as we do talking to a barn manager about a substantial tackroom setup. No order is too small or large. We take great pride in making each and every customer feel special and making each and every order the very best we can. We look forward to working with you on your special order.
