Newly emergent on the international art scene, Sharjah is in the midst of an exciting cultural renaissance. A mere 25 kilometres north of Dubai, this undiscovered Emirate is an utterly dynamic contemporary and historic nexus of the Arab world. Islamic heritage meets an exciting contemporary openness in Heart of Sharjah, the Emirate’s largest and most ambitious historical preservation project. It is here that GHM has been invited to convert a collection of historic manor houses into the Al Bait Sharjah, a 53-key Emirati luxury resort that delivers bespoke services where beauty, unparalleled services and a sense of home become inseparable spread over 10,000 square metres. Unique design elements such as converting an old home into a library and museum, and weaving the Souq Al Arsah, a traditional open-air marketplace, into the property as a pedestrian thoroughfare, will bring the destination’s charm to life and enhance the guest experience. Al Bait Sharjah is designed by UK-based architectural firm GAJ.
