Founded in 2016 by Chandler Phillips, Eliza Moreno, and Persis Badha at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The Bridge is a multi-faceted organization which connects all women of color at both universities through creating. The platform is used to validate the experiences and identities of collegiate women of color, allow for cross-cultural collaboration between the diverse groups, and provide a space for both to exchange shared stories and experiences. The goal is to have an online community for these women to share their experiences, interests, opinions, resources, and empower one another through a live feed, written commentaries, photography, video and other creative channels. We hope to use technology and social media as a means of uplifting these historically oppressed and marginalized groups. The Bridge is a medium that doubles as a portfolio builder, a space for activism, an opportunity to meet women that care about the voice of historically marginalized peoples, and bridging the solidarity between both of our groups. We are a publication, but we are also a space for empowerment. The Bridge is a an online publication that does not tolerate discrimination towards individuals of the LGBTQ+ community and gender non-conforming individuals. The Bridge is an online publication that is accepting of those of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.
