The Big Step Information

At The Big Step, we specialise in helping children make a smoother, more confident transition from primary to secondary school. Our Year 6-7 Summer Transition Programme is designed to reduce the anxiety often associated with this crucial step, providing students with a unique blend of fun, education, and personal development. Since 2018, we’ve worked with schools across the South West of England to deliver high-quality programmes that build resilience, foster teamwork, and prepare students for success in their new environment. What We Do Our programmes are both engaging and educational, incorporating a range of activities to suit every child. From glow-in-the-dark dodgeball to escape rooms, martial arts, STEM challenges, drama, and even cooking, we ensure every participant leaves feeling more prepared for secondary school. Our sessions include: Anxiety Workshops: Practical strategies to manage stress and build confidence. Team-Building Activities: Encouraging collaboration and fostering friendships before term starts. STEM and Creative Challenges: From CSI investigations to engineering projects, we stimulate critical thinking and creativity. Martial Arts and CPR Training: Promoting physical confidence and real-life skills. Escape Room Activities: Problem-solving adventures that develop resilience and decision-making.
