Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Zoo Walk Stay safe and we will see you in 2021! The highlight for 2018 was the awarding of a $1.5M Early-detection research grant by the Department of Defense (DOD) to Dr. Sophia George of the University of Miami. You will recall that the Belinda Sue Fund, in partnership with the Mary Jane Welker Foundation, co-funded Dr. George a seed grant in the amount of $50,000 in 2016. Her amazing work resulted in the DOD grant awarded in 2018! Achieving this milestone in our mission to provide significant financial funding, focused on early-detection research, is extremely gratifying! The Sharon Elaine Foundation was founded in memory of Sharon Elaine who passed away from Ovarian Cancer in October 2011. The purpose of this wonderful organization is to gift custom-made human hair wigs to cancer survivors. To learn more visit:
