THE ALAN Information

We are at the cusp of creating a new boutique offering in the heart of Manchester. A space to eat, drink, work, learn, play and sleep. A venue that maintains the spirit of its location, taking elements of the grit, the rawness and the energy and transforming it into a brand for the relentlessly real. In that same spirit we have stripped back and curated a space made from real materials. Locally sourced, where possible, organic and tactile. Materials that aim to be sustainable. Broken bits of marble patched together to create a dramatic 300 sqm ground floor arena, terrazzo shelves made from disregarded hotel detritus, ceramic shelves made by a local ceramicist... These are spaces guests want to live and breathe, bedrooms where they can, and want to, stay for months at a time, spaces where they feel Mancunian themselves. The heart of The Alan will be the ground floor and the soul will be the underground basement venue. These dynamic spaces will be the new place to be in Manchester, a venue that embraces the city’s most energising cultural offerings and resists against the ostentatious luxury you find in other parts of the city. A place which finally embraces realness. A discovery that feels so rare, it feels exclusive. The ground floor will consist of multiple modular areas that can be reconfigured for bar space, coffee spot, co-working areas and casual dining. Whereas the basement is a makeshift space which will accommodate pop-up restaurants, deli spaces, radio shows, meeting spaces, workshops and cocktail bars. The Alan is a dynamic place where we relinquish ourselves to tell and create the stories of Manchester.
