<p>Discovery Academy is a therapeutic boarding school located in the heart of Provo, Utah. Discovery serves teens ages 13-17. Our students are typically bright underachievers with emotional or behavioral problems that have resulted in struggles at home, in school, or in the community. These students may have trouble with substance abuse, behavioral problems, mood disorders, or learning difficulties. Discovery Academy is an excellent boarding school choice for teens that have failed in traditional boarding schools and/or are transitioning from other types of treatment programs, such as wilderness or intensive residential treatment programs. Discovery uses a single gender hybrid treatment model. Boys and girls have separate living and learning areas. They share some activities when their therapists feel it is clinically advantageous. Located in an urban environment, Discovery students have the opportunity to take university courses and even have part-time jobs while they are in treatment. Our academic, social skill emphasis approach prepares your child not only with knowledge, but skills that will help the child to cope in everyday situations. Gateway Academy integrates social skills training into the curriculum, on a daily, hourly, and by the minute basis. Teaching children to be able to communicate, negotiate, and express themselves clearly, to make good choices and to be able to ask for what they want is one of our main focuses. Children's future success and well-being rests on how effectively they can navigate through the many situations they will be faced with throughout life.
