Temple Shalom of Newton is a vibrant and growing Reform Jewish community of roughly 650 families. We have a diverse congregation and a wide variety of programs and activities. Our collaborative staff and lay leaders are eager to help new and existing members engage in ways that are meaningful to them and make the process of receiving and sharing information smooth and efficient.

Founded in 1845 as the first Reform Jewish Congregation in New York City, Temple Emanu-El is among the largest Jewish Houses of Worship in the world. We continue to build upon the legacy of leadership and the timeless values of Jewish tradition as we strive toward a more just, ethical and compassionate world. Temple Emanu-El offers a robust religious school program for children of all ages, a first-rate nursery school, the Bernard Museum of Judaica, the Stettenheim Library, a range of community events through the Streicker Center, and more. In addition, our Tikkun Olam Committee and Philanthropic Fund support a wide range of humanitarian, educational, and cultural causes, as well as initiatives that advance Reform Judaism and strengthen our connection to Israel. Our Reform Congregation offers weekly Shabbat services, monthly Tot Shabbat, Religious & Hebrew School as well as training for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, educational opportunities for adults and families, social and social action programming and activities, cultural events and more. Temple Israel is a founding member of the Union for Reform Judaism and is served by Senior Rabbi Sharon Mars, Cantor Bat-Ami Moses and Rabbi Educator Sam Klein.
