About TEDx, x = independently organised event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events are self-organised. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) About TEDxFolkestone TEDxFolkestone set itself the challenge of hosting an event that champions inspiration, innovation, collaboration and leadership across the community and Kent businesses. TEDxFolkestone is a platform for ‘unheard voices’ in addition to more accomplished speakers. A series of speaker development workshops lead up to the actual event, building skills, confidence, collaboration and connection, ensuring TEDxFolkestone delivers the best possible experience for all involved. This event provides a valuable platform to empower people to share new ideas. In 2018 we focused on the theme of 'Courage to Step Beyond'. With courage, people can push past the boundaries created by fear to achieve extraordinary things, and discover they personally possess almost unlimited potential to achieve. With courage, we can all reach beyond our comfort zone, to develop and grow. Ideas are needed to fuel innovation in today's fast-changing world. They can come from anywhere, and anyone.
