Originally from Napa Valley, USA, Teddi Hosman designs, creates, and crafts unique and timeless jewelry for life's everyday and memorable moments. Perfecting her skills for over 20 years, Teddi works in popular metals, forming, bending, hammering, and finely finishing each design for long-lasting, comfortable wear. Her elegant and abstract designs imitate botanical, industrial, and architectural inspirations, while reflecting her passion for nature, culture, and innovation, are often embellished with pearls, crystals or organic gems. Teddi claims Napa Valley as her USA home but spends much of her year living and working in Germany, continuing to quench her thirst for innovation and adventure. It wasn't a clear-cut decision to become a jewelry designer but something more evolved. Teddi grew up in a talented and artistic family, with photography being her first medium. Her interest in jewelry came from wanting to own unique and unusual jewelry creations but not always being able to afford them. After taking a few jewelry classes Teddi was inspired to make a few things for herself, then gifts for family and friends, and then onto creating unique, sophisticated pieces for clients who wear her work frequently often reminding them of a time, place, or special memory. Teddi's early influences started with photographing elements and patterns in Nature, often envisioning a twisted stem or a serrated leaf translated into a piece of jewelry. Teddi was initially taught cold-connection techniques used in much of the Middle East masters metalwork. She continues to create much of her work without solder, always considering the strength, durability, and heirloom qualities of each piece. Teddi's ideal customers are typically confident women, secure in their own individual styles. These women, rather than let fashion dictate their choices, often put their own mark on the style they create for themselves. The various collections Teddi offers, ultimately lend themselves to her clients' characteristics, translating through her jewelry, attracting women of confidence. Teddi has become known for working in both sterling silver and fine silver, primarily because of the fluidity and forgiveness, which other metals don't normally offer. The metal itself provides a starting point and allows for initial inspiration options, often taking the design beyond the original intention to something much grander. Teddi also works with other metals such as copper, bronze, and gold however, silver seems to work with her moods, her designs, and her customer's preferences while still possessing an incredible strength and durability. Even though Teddi often works on a schedule producing jewelry for her retail and wholesale accounts, she loves the movement of "drawing" with metal wire, typically with fine silver but occasionally in copper. Sometimes inspiration hits and the creation quickly comes to fruition or similarly, there are instances where the piece sorts itself out over a period of time. Typically Teddi is inspired by a shape or pattern or a specific need or request from her customers. Often you'll find paper scraps drawn with squiggles and shapes mimicking a wrought iron fence scattered on her workbench, watchful as an inspiring muse. Teddi's various collections are all so versatile and can go with almost any outfit or event. She adds new items to each collection regularly encouraging her customers to find more of their own individual and signature styling.
