Founded in June 2020 in Houston, TX, Tecolotl is a grassroots consulting collective that specializes in multilingual capacity-building and community-led planning. Tecolotl believes that to create a better world, we all need to be able to communicate, participate, and lead in our institutions and our communities, regardless of the languages or linguistic variants we use. We need multilingual strategies to address the issues and challenges we face in a multilingual world. Tecolotl is the nahuatl word for “owl” or “messenger between worlds”. That's why Tecolotl provides the tools, resources, and expertise for people to unite across languages and cultures so they can take collective action to transform their communities.
