TechSmart for Seniors Information

WHO WE ARE TechSmart for Seniors is a technology education nonprofit committed to keeping adults independent, connected and engaged with life. WHAT WE DO With today’s changing technology environment, i.e. online communication, financial transactions and information accessibility, it’s important that senior adults learn the processes with confidence. We provide public and private technology lessons to keep older adults engaged and connected with family, friends and the world. WHY WE DO IT We believe that all senior adults should have the opportunity to learn how to use today’s technology so they can feel psychologically attached to their support groups of family, friends and community. Isolation is a growing health epidemic: More than 8 million adults age 50 and older are affected by isolation. The health risks of prolonged isolation are equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Isolation in older adults is rarely caused by a single event: More often, it’s the result of multiple causes, including poor physical and mental health, poorly designed communities, and major life events such as loss and retirement.
