I am working on a set of technology themed card/board games to allow people to engage with these complex concepts, without expecting them to become experts themselves. They all started as introductory presentations that I would give on various topics, and I thought how can I make this better. The focus is to product a "seminar in a box" experience. With the game and suppliemental presentation material people are empowered to host their own engaging experiences. I am open to hosting in person and virtual events, please contact if interested. You might be asking yourself why create card/board games for training at work? * Fun First - The hardest part of educating people is getting them to care about it. Once they care about it the content is easy. If they are introduced to the concept via play they are more likely to engage with the topic not because they have to, but because they want to. You are not going to create experts by playing a single game, but you can spark curiosity and give them a solid mental model to build on. * Underutilized communication tool - There are plenty of passive ways (books, podcasts, videos) to get information about anything in tech to understand it, but many people need to experience something to learn it. It is a lot to ask someone to create/work with a development environment to experience the tech, especially for a non-technical audience, but it is reasonable for them to play a game of cards. * Engage and create a larger community - When technologists explain tech to non-technical people it is easy to get lost in the details and make the topic confusing. A game creates a level "playing" field between technical and non-technical people. This allows people of a diverse background/skill set to have a shared experience. The best way to have long term learning is to do it together. When the accountant beats the architect at the cybersecurity game that creates a community of learners.
