The National Theater Eduardo Brito was inaugurated on August 16, 1973, by President JoaquĆn Balaguer with the presence of different personalities both from both national and international. That day began the Festival of Inauguration with a program that included theater, opera and ballet, among other artistic genres. The building was baptized with the name of Eduardo Brito in 2006, under presidential decree, to honor the memory of the emblematic Dominican baritone. Its rooms host renowned figures of world and native art, both in music and dance and in the theater, as well as admired groups of the most diverse conformations. In the course of time, on the stages of the National Theater Eduardo Brito have paraded great characters of world art in all its manifestations. The majestic building, surrounded by beautiful gardens and green areas, stands on the west side of the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, in Santo Domingo.
