TEAPY® is a new tableware piece which transforms tea-making and tea bag disposal. It is a substantially circular lid to a mug or cup with a "perimeter recess". This recess provides a small aperture inside the rim of the mug or cup to retain a tea bag string while preventing the tea bag tag slipping into the mug or cup. Optionally, it can also hold a teaspoon. On the underside, it has a waterproof "well" area to receive a used tea bag. After the tea is brewed, the TEAPY® is flipped over and the perimeter recess "docked" snugly against the side of the mug or cup. Unlike circular lids, this provides a “transfer width” for a dripping, used tea bag, avoiding any mess. It can also be used with a tagless tea bag with a teaspoon located inside the mug and perimeter recess for ease of carrying in one hand.
