VOA is more than a nonprofit. We are a ministry of service committed to helping build brighter, more resilient futures. Since 1896, we have served communities across the country through hundreds of human service programs, including housing, health care and support for veterans, people experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, individuals returning from incarceration and those in recovery. Today, more than 15,000 professionals and thousands of volunteers help VOA serve people in communities across the country. Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) began in 2003 as a grassroots effort to provide care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than two decades later, Wounded Warrior Project is the nation's leading veteran service organization, focused on the total well-being of post-9/11 veterans. Keeping the promise to care for our nation’s veterans requires the expertise and energy of a diverse and committed team. We build and lead programs that help warriors find purpose and thrive. We provide essential lifelines to families and caregivers. We advocate tirelessly with policymakers. We raise awareness to celebrate the service and honor the sacrifice of all veterans.
