Tavaziva Dance is renowned for its beautiful and dynamic hybridization of contemporary, ballet and African dance. The style demands a high degree of skill and our Company dancers articulate this unique movement language with athletic physicality, technical precision and breath-taking grace, resulting in intricate and thrilling choreography for audiences to be inspired by. The Company's focus is on producing innovative and engaging new dance works that respond to contemporary socio-cultural issues to tour throughout the UK and internationally. The Company also prides itself in offering education and training opportunities for young dancers and graduates, and has been commissioned to make work for the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programmes, Association of the African Diaspora, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Artistry Youth Dance, Rambert, Phoenix Dance Theatre and Southbank Centre. Tavaziva has produced: Umdlalo Kasisi 2004, Soul Inspired 2005, Bophelo 2006, Chatsva 2007, Heart of Darkness 2009, Wild Dog 2010, Double Take 2011, Sensual Africa 2012, Tavaziva Ten 2014, Africarmen 2015, Izindava 2017, BOY'S KHAYA 2021 & 2023, Greed 2013 & 2025, and Requiem 2025-26. Tavaziva is working an autobiographical solo reflecting on the remarkable journey and life of our Artistic Director and Founder, Bawren Tavaziva. Tavaziva is funded by Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation and also supported by the British Ballet Organisation, Wandsworth Council, The London Community Foundation, Cockayne Foundation, Abderrahim Crickmay Charitable Settlement, Foyle Foundation, Creative Scotland and the Garrick Charitable Trust.
