Tastex Knitwear Inc. has been producing knitwear in Tasmania, Australia, with a reputation for unsurpassed quality and workmanship since 1946. Tastex is an "Australian Disability Enterprise" employing 22 people. Seventeen of our employees have either intellectual, cognitive or developmental disabilities. We are also a Special Work of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Tasmania, and an NDIS participant workplace. As a fully operational knitting mill Tastex is the only knitting mill in Australia that provides training and support for people with intellectual, cognitive and developmental disabilities. Our Mission statement is: To enable people with intellectual disabilities to experience meaningful employment in a supportive environment. At Tastex, we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to reach their potential. All of our employees are encouraged to undertake recognised training programs.
