“Tarkka” is the Finnish word for “exact”, and this embodies our passion for precision machine design. We have seen first-hand how difficult it is for individuals and small businesses to develop new hardware products, especially if they lack access to extensive capital or a formal engineering education. Our company is committed to democratizing engineering, product design, and manufacturing by supplying individuals and small businesses with the equipment and knowledge needed to develop innovative products and build successful businesses. We are currently developing a product that will greatly increases access to digital fabrication technology by totally rethinking the way CNC machines are designed. It will allow products to be prototyped and manufactured from start-to-finish with only 1/10 of the capital and space of traditional machine tools. Through our YouTube channel, we break down complex engineering topics into entertaining and informative videos. We hope to democratize the access to mechanical engineering knowledge via the internet in the same way that others have made electrical and software engineering approachable. Whether you call yourself a maker, student, hobbyist, hacker, or professional, we want to equip you with the skills you need to make your projects a success. Tarkka is a resident at the Autodesk Technology Center in Boston, MA, a 34,000-square-foot research and development facility that supports startups and researchers by supplying them with a fully-equipped machine shop and prototyping studio, as well as advanced design and manufacturing software.
