TÁRKI Social Research Institute Information

TÁRKI has 30 years of experience in empirical social science research in Hungary. Its research activities focus on a wide range of issues including: social stratification, labour markets, income distribution, consumption and lifestyle patterns and attitudes;increasingly it is has focused on market research applications. While, TÁRKI has carried out a wide range of activities for its clients, social research remains the most important part of its work. In the nineties, TÁRKI successfully built household and enterprise panel studies. With its own Survey Unit, which encompases a nationwide interviewer network, TÁRKI is able to perform several surveys a year on both a national and a local level. Currently, the TÁRKI Data Archive is the national digital social research archive for Hungary. In addition, TÁRKI stores and publishes a great number of surveys for social science and business communities world-wide. TÁRKI is a member of several prestigious international research networks and consortia including: the IFDO, CESSDA, ICPSR, ISSP, ESS, LIS and ECPR, and has contributed to a great number of international research efforts. Recently, TÁRKI, together with IVVM (former CVVM, Prague), CBOS (Warsaw) and PMCG (Brussels), founded the Central European Opinion Research Group (CEORG) to carry out joint, harmonised monthly omnibus surveys in the respective member countries.
