Tarac Technologies Information

Tarac Technologies is a leading global supplier of premium beverage-grade grape alcohol products to the wine industry and a variety of other industries including craft distilleries, food producers, nutraceuticals and homeopathy. Tarac was established in 1930 in South Australia’s Barossa Valley by CSIRO scientist Alfred Allen, who developed a unique process to recover grape alcohol, grape seed oil and tartrates from winery residuals. Tarac provides environmental solutions and valued products and services to the Australian wine industry. We are an integral part of the industry’s sustainability through the application of our “closed loop” system – treating over 135,000 tonnes of grape marc, more than 40 million litres of liquid and approximately 7,000 tonnes of solid residuals annually. Our operations alleviate key environmental issues through value-adding the disposal and treatment of solid and liquid winemaking residuals. Tarac’s products and services include GrapEX natural tannins, calcium tartrate, natural tartaric acid, grape juice concentrate and concentration services, AlcoTECH alcohol adjustment, grape seeds, soil improvers and VitiFeed and Acti-Meal stock feeds. Servicing domestic and overseas markets, Tarac operates sites in close proximity to key Australian winemaking regions – Nuriootpa and Berri in South Australia, and Griffith in New South Wales.
